View Photo »I'm glad I heard that and there's a possibility there ... It can't happen obviously now. We'll have to wait for the summertime. A lot of things could happen.
We did not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause ... The players' agent, Rick Curran, whispered to us there would be three locations he'd be interested in going, and could we please explore those. We did. There wasn't a deal to be made and that was the end of it.
I'm glad I heard that possibility but it can't happen now
Tomas Kaberle has a no-trade clause, and that was given to him in good faith ... I think players can only get them if they have a certain level of seniority and a certain level of expertise. And I think organizations are bound by those things, whether it's the same GM who gave it to the player or not.
I always look at guys like Steve Yzerman who played on one team [for their whole career]
We did not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause. We did not ask him for a list of players ... I believe organizations are bound by those things. I believe the organizations should honor it even though I wasn't the GM at the time. We think the world of Tomas Kaberle. He's a great guy and he's a...
There's a lot of excitement for you guys
Let's all agree here that no one's going to ask me that again. We're not going to ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade.
Burkie is fair to me and I'm fair to him. If there's a good deal on the table, I would consider it
I'm glad you asked me because this will be the last time I answer a question about Tomas Kaberle
There is no list like some people are saying, or whatever
I'm glad the question (on Kaberle) was asked because this is the last time I will say it, I will not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause
Everybody could be moved, that’s the thing
There was no indication obviously ... Personally, you look at past tournaments we played and I was part of [and] Marek Zidlicky and Tomas Kaberle were the captains. There were a few guys that could have been it. It's a great honor obviously.
No, nothing has changed with me, so we'll see
There was no indication ... You look at past tournaments we played that I was part of -- Marek Zidlicky was a captain, Tomas Kaberle. There were a few guys that could have been in that position.
Maybe the best line I’ve ever seen
He's a big kid, strong kid ... he's good defensively and he doesn't let people go by him ... He's mostly a stay-at-home defenseman, but he's got a good shot, so he can contribute offensively at the same time. He doesn't mind throwing (his weight) around. The opposition knows he can hit so they have to b...
He's excited about this tournament. He's got lots of energy and everybody could see it
Every team is going to have to give him respect because he can make you look bad ... He's our best forward and it showed. He's so strong on the puck and he's got such a quick release and he's got such strong legs -- when he has a step on you, you're not going to catch him.
They played it tight, they out-battled us and we were flat-footed ... if you don't win the battles you don't get the puck and the set-ups you want
We went through the power play there for a few minutes and you get the feeling he wants to do the kinds of things like Caber back then with me a few years a go ... If you have (Phil) Kessel on the left side and Dion on the right, we're going to get more options there.
When I heard [Dion] was coming, I thought about how Brian and I used to work together on the power play ... Hopefully [Phaneuf] and I can do the same.
It was kind of funny. I was thinking about it on the ice feeding him (Phaneuf) – I thought about Caber (McCabe) a bit
We have to battle harder and get more pucks on the net
