View Photo »We just got excited about recruiting ... We got excited about going to the Cotton Bowl. We got excited about getting back in the living rooms and our players talking and fighting over who they were going to host.
We have a good recruiting staff ... We work very hard at it, and I appreciate the organization starting with (recruiting coordinator) Chris Vaughn. Derrick Nix deserves to be the recruiter of the year in Mississippi and Terry Price needs to be in there too along with Tyrone Nix and James Shibest. I'm pr...
I feel like we have one of the finest defensive line groups that I can remember signing ... If you just look at their height, weight, character, speed, the playmaking ability of each one of these guys, man, we're excited to have them.
I am really happy with the way things worked out ... This class is one of the highest ranked that we have ever been associated with. This group has great character and it gets me excited.
Once I talked to him I knew he still had that itch ... He’s a great teacher and he’s a good recruiter too. He’ll be perfect for our staff.
Mike has been helping coordinate the run game and is most deserving of this promotion ... He’s one of the best in the game and should work well with Dave.
Dave will be a tremendous asset as these young quarterbacks continue to develop their skills and decision-making
I was looking for a person with 10 or more years of coaching quarterbacks, a man with outstanding knowledge of the passing game and a man of great character ... We found that in Dave Rader. He has experience teaching quarterbacks and helping them with the decision-making process.
He really brings a presence ... He's a little older, a little stronger and has a little more football experience. We expect him to come in here and help us.
Kent Austin did an outstanding job for Ole Miss these last two years ... I am grateful for all his hard work and the contributions he made to our program. There are only so many head coaching positions in college football and I am proud he is getting this opportunity. We appreciate Kent and his family a...
We feel we've got a really good program to sell
Ty has done an excellent job for us the last two seasons and is recognized as one of the best defensive coordinators in college football
My wife was on me hard ... It makes you think. It's hard to slow coaching when it's all you know.
The numbers work out every single time
We've got to get some offensive linemen and some cornerbacks ... We've got to restock the defensive line and add a few receivers, too.
I really, really wish we had those extra three scholarships ... That hurts us a lot.
In order to not conflict with the Double Decker Arts Festival, we have decided to hold the Grove Bowl on April 17 ... Our original decision to end spring practice on April 24 was well thought out and the schedule fit our practice needs. It would have also coincided with the LSU baseball series. However,...
Just because people have committed doesn't mean that people are going to stop recruiting them
He's a great quarterback, but there's plenty of things he could have improved ... His accuracy, reading defenses, things like that. But in his heart, I think he really just wanted to play in the NFL.
I really wanted him back another year. But I respect his decision ... He'd already earned his degree and pretty much had his mind made up. I wish him the best and he did a lot of great things here.
Jevan did a whole lot for this program
I like both of them ... They both are young, but boy, they've got the physical tools to be successful.
After long talks (Wednesday) night and (Thursday) morning, we tried very hard to keep Jevan as an Ole Miss Rebel for one more year ... I’m sure the fact that he’s already got his (undergraduate) degree played a role in his decision, and I do respect his decision. He is a young man of great character ......
After long talks last night and this morning, we tried very hard to keep Jevan as an Ole Miss Rebel for one more year
But there is nothing like winning a bowl game and standing in that celebrating locker room, seeing those faces.
