We are excited about the opportunity to promote our MedFlash® with Darryl Strawberry
Me, I was whatever level you're at after bulletproof. I was indestructible.
Even [fellow cast member] Darryl Strawberry said, 'Look, man, they're gonna [prosecute] you and stuff. You don't wanna be doing a reality show.'
It's not going to be an easy task. I'm pretty excited about looking forward to that because I want to be able to challenge myself in new areas.
This was a historic night for the City Section and the Crenshaw community. The school that produced Darryl Strawberry in baseball and Marques Johnson in basketball has a new set of athletic stars, and they are football players.
I played with Mariano Rivera, I saw it up close ... I know what his cutter looked like and I’m telling you, I haven’t seen a pitch move like his, with that kind of velocity, until I saw this kid Mejia.
It's different because I think this kid is built to be a closer ... But he's ready. He'll get people out. I will stay on Omar about it.
He plays the game the right way ... It looks like he has a chance to really be something special in the game of baseball if he just doesn't get too high or too low.
That's just pure confidence ... That's something you can't teach. He's a kid that looks like he already has that.
Even the pitches that weren't where he wanted them
He could do the same things Mariano's done with that pitch -- it moves so much
I know, I know ... But did you see his ball move? Awesome. That ball cuts. It's natural, too.
He is the reason guys continue to play
I never used them. I wish they had them when I was around. I would’ve used them
I put it like this – it could’ve been better. You could’ve put a couple more pieces in the puzzle
I'm truly honored and truly blessed to be here tonight accepting this award ... I didn't know Thurman personally, but I know he played for the Yankees, and I know his history. It means a great deal to me.
This is home for me, this where my career started, being drafted number one by the Mets and coming up in ‘83 and winning rookie of the year, and then seeing this organization develop into what we devolved into in the 80s
I told him it just doesn't make my day, it makes my year
I think the biggest thing that I regret more than anything is that I left New York and left the Mets. That was the biggest mistake I ever made ... That has always been home for me.
We could have won more ... Do we regret that? Of course we regret it. But it was a great time to be a Met.
I had a lot of issues [cancer and drug use], but my health is great.
This doesn't make my day ... It makes my year, 2010. There was no better time than wearing the Mets' No. 18.
Of course, we would've liked to have won more ... There's no question about it. But when I look back over it, there were no greater days than being a Met, wearing No. 18.
For me, it's always been the Mets ... That's where I started, being drafted No. 1, coming to big leagues, having all the success in a Met uniform. It's always been home to me. I am always grateful for the opportunity to play with the Yankees and I'll never forget that. But the Mets is the place I always...
